This time it's a dog tag

Over the years I've been sent several dog tags that people would like returned. Today Bill tracked down the Great Great Nephew of 3625 John Alfred Nelson who was KIA on 17 Aug 1916. I'll put this dog tag in the mail tomorrow and it should be back with the family by Anzac Day.

    You are doing well there Glyn :)

    I believe even a dog tag is something of value.

    I recently visited with some AWM people who were over in Perth and got talking to some young men who had their great grandfather's mementos. Seeing the look in their eyes as they told me stories was enough for me to know how important they were.

    Hello Glyn

    I am Greg from Lille France. I have been working now for many years on the Great War in my region, particularly in the Fromelles and Flanders areas.

    I am now in touch with the war memorial in Canberra and am hopeful to be able to identify some MIA Australians servicemen of 1916-1918.

    I am currently thinking of purchasing a metal detector to locate lost tags. This would enable us to locate the death place of soldiers during different battles.
