This search started with an email from Tom M of the Boolaroo Speers Point RSL sub branch. Following Anzac Day an Afghanistan campaign medal had been handed in.
Tom was able to provide me with the service details of the veteran which was a good start but the name was a little too common to borrow down exactly who I was looking for. I made a lot of assumptions in my search and each time I tested one it proved to be wrong. Until I came across this photo:
The photo is of a veteran with the same last name as on the medal so with a bit more digging I found his phone number. The veteran is now connected with the RSL sub branch.
The returned medal tally is now 2798.
